1-BK Presents: Chilli-butter Smoked Salmon with Beans & Carrots

Part of the 1-bowl kitchen project.

So having finally found that my phone is not thoroughly stuffed (just the current SD-card) I can now take pictures again with my phone.  Lucky for me as it means I only needed to spen £20 instead of £400 on a new "not-iPhone".
Unlucky for all of you, as I now have the means to start my 1-bowl kitchen log...

Ingredients (for 1 serving):

  • Half a large carrot.
  • 4 good sized runner beans (or 8 home grown..)
  • 1 Smoked salmon fillet
  • 1 chilli-butter sauce thing from Sainsburys fish counter (optional)
  • Extra Virgin Olive oil
  • Tarragon
  • Black pepper
  • 1 bowl!

All timings are based on my preferences and an 800w microwave - if you're an al-dente type.. go cook your food properly and get off my case! :)

Tonights star line-up (notice the carrot)

Mouse is to personal taste, though a peeler is more effective than a keyboard, I found.

De-string & chop beans.  Peel and then sliver the carrot (i.e. peel the hell out of it).  Slivering is quicker than chopping and makes for a slightly more interesting look.  New peelers would also appear to be damn sharp ("damn sharp" spelt "o-w - -s-o-n-o-f-a-*").

No meal is complete without carrots

Add 0.5 - 1 tbsp table spoon olive oil and a little water to beans and then throw them in microwave for 2 minutes (with a plate on top.. no time to be cleaning inside of microwave either!).

Then add the carrots with a little black pepper - stir into the beans to get the flavors mixing.

Another 2-3 minutes, the veg is done and the fish can go in - turn out the veg onto our "lid" plate and cover to keep them warm.

Especially slightly frazzled carrots in olive oil

2- 3 minutes later and we're good to tidy and get back to work!

To protect the innocent, "carbs" will tonight be played by a bread roll.

Likely to be a repeat offender (as in it was nice and have it again... not the chilli-butter...)?

Hell yea!

You know you wanted some.  You need it because you're weak.

Will probably leave the tarragon out next time - the chilli-butter kind of wipes it out... either / or moment.  Probably add the italian "pizza" herb whose name escapes me right now to the veg too.

Enjoy.
